Sebastian Platvoet

Lecturer/Researcher

Sebastian Platvoet works as a lecturer/researcher at the HAN University of applied sciences, School of sport and exercise, in The Netherlands. He has a PhD in Human Movement Sciences. In his work he focuses on the motor development of young children and on talent identification and talent development in sports.

With his colleagues he developed a tool to assess children’s fundamental movement skills in applied settings. Also, he and his team worked on programs’ which challenge children to develop and improve their motor skills. The tool and programs are currently implemented in the PE curricula of many schools, primary and secondary. Sebastian collaborates with many schools, sport clubs, sport unions, and local governments, national and international.

Michelle Johnson

Lecturer/Researcher

Michelle Johnson was born and raised in Beausejour Manitoba on a farm outside of town. Sport was the foundation of her young years and became what she would shape her professional career around. She completed her Physical Education Degree from the University of Manitoba with the honour of being valedictorian of her class in June of 2000.

Michelle has designed, created and conducted various programs for children and youth (ages 6 – 21). On a personal level, she played rugby for the Kuwait women’s team, recreational hockey with the men’s league, and started an Ultimate Frisbee night for teachers and community to learn this growing sport. While in Kuwait, she had the privilege of traveling to many countries and was able to visit India in 2018.

She has had an exemplary career in the field with prestigious and esteemed institutions and not for profit organizations. To share her knowledge of FMS, games, and sport that many years in this field have brought her with children and providers across the world is a dream come true for her.

Hans Stroes

Lecturer/Researcher

Hans is co-author of the most widely used physical education method in the Netherlands. He provides training on this subject to teachers in the field and to students from university colleges. He is also an expert in training teachers and students in the field of assistance to children with movement disabilities. He is co-author of several books and publications in this field.

Two important principles in his work:
1. Each child is on the move (no child stands still)
2. Each child has experiences of success by offering the activities at their own level
